The Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage to establish the ‘Kandy World Heritage City Foundation’.

The foundation expects to develop the economy and generate employment opportunities by planning and executing development projects in the area.

It will also undertake a comprehensive study of the projects identified from the master plan for development of the designated area and undertake action to raise funds from local and foreign sources for projects.
