People rush in their thousands to the 'Deyata Kirula' exhibition held at Pallekele in the historic city of Kandy. The exhibition being held in the wake of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's resounding victory at the recent Presidential Election, has over 1,000 stalls for industrial, agricultural, power generation, and trade sectors.
Ministries and departments, State corporations and Provincial Government agencies together with the private sector have made the best use of the occasion to raise public awareness on what they have embarked upon in the sphere of development. Indigenous culture, archaeology and literature have been given the pride of place. Special buses, medical facilities and a special insurance scheme have been introduced for the benefit of the participants.
Chief Sanghanayake Ven. Godamunne Rathnapala Nayaka Thera of Kolongoda Gangaramaya said the exhibition enlightened the public on the massive development drive launched by the Government.
